We first started hiking these trails on our honeymoon, over 25 years ago. A few years ago, we wanted to revisit some of the falls we’ve seen, and see some additional falls.
As we started searching online for and hiking to different waterfalls throughout the Southeast with our family, we were frustrated with the lack of complete and (in some cases) accurate information available.
Therefore, we’ve started to build a database of waterfalls throughout the states they typically traveled too, including Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and most recently Kentucky. Knowing that this could be useful to other people, we’ve decided to share this information with everyone.
In addition to organizing the waterfalls by state, to make it easier to find them. If you know the waterfall by name, this site has a search feature you might find helpful. One thing we’ve found however, is that some waterfalls have multiple names. Where we find this, we try to let everyone know.
We’ve also grouped and linked the waterfalls by the difficulty of the hiking trails (including those that are roadside), and by near by cities/locations, so you can try several falls within a short period of time, without having to travel large distances.
If you haven’t traveled to see many waterfalls before, we’ve also started putting together trip ideas for you. These trip ideas allow you to visit several waterfalls in a close area. The trips are broken down into Day Trips and 3 to 5 Day Trips, depending upon how much time you have to visit.
While we work on the site together, you can find those posted by Tracy here and Walter here.
