Blue Hole Falls is a series of four separate waterfalls all located near each other.

To get to the overlook, take the small trail that starts just to the left of the parking area near the road.  It will twist through the trees and go down about 30 feet or so to the overlook.

While many other sites list this trail as easy. I would classify it as a moderate, since while the trail is not very long, parts can be very steep. We went in January, several days after it had snowed. The snow had not completely melted from the path making it harder to get to the overlook.

The trail also continued down from the overlook to where I believe you could see both of the two lower falls, however due to the snow we did not attempt this.

To go to the plunge pool, go back to the parking area and follow the 4-wheeler trail on the right hand side of the parking area for 20 feet or so and take the walking trail that goes down the hill to the left.  We followed the trail down the steps to the bottom. The steps are high, but manageable for all family members and give a great view of the plunge basin which you can see above and to the right.

I have been told that you can take the first right on this trail to go to the upper falls, or look for another side trail about 1/2 way down that goes to the middle falls. We did not try these trails on this trip due to the snow and ice.

We plan to go back to this waterfall in the spring, so be sure to check back for updates.

Take Highway 91 east (NE really) out of Elizabethton, TN for about 10 miles. Turn left onto Panhandle Rd at just after the brown national forest sign for "Blue Hole". Comes up pretty quickly, less than a mile. After the road turns to gravel look for a small parking area on the left side of the road (1 mile or so).
