Nearby Areas: Brevard, Dupont State Forest   State: North Carolina   Ease of Trail: Moderate

The High Falls 1High Falls trail is a moderate hike in the Dupont State Forest. You can access Triple Falls and High Falls from the same trail. What’s nice is you should be able to view them both in the same day.

High Falls itself is a large cascade and popular given its size.

To hike to High Falls from the parking area, walk past the wooden shelter and cross the paved road on the crosswalk. Walk on the side of the road (facing traffic) to the other side of the bridge; hop the guardrail and climb the stairs to the beginning of the Triple Falls Trail on your left in 0.1 miles. After about 0.3 miles the trail starts to get steep and shortly you reach the upper Triple Falls overlook at 0.5 miles.

After viewing Triple Falls, you go slightly uphill from the Triple Falls staircase to reach the junction of the Triple Falls Trail and High Falls Trail.  To hike to High Falls, turn left and follow the High Falls Trail until you reach the High Falls  overlook at 1.1 miles. A staircase will lead down to the base of High Falls. Round trip to High Falls is 2.2 miles.

While in the area, be sure to visit Hooker Falls.
