The Great Smoky Mountains is home to many waterfalls. Some require hiking to reach and others are roadside. One that delivers year round is Meigs Falls.
Meigs Falls is a 30 foot waterfall that can be seen from a pull-off on Little River Road between Cades Cove and Sugarlands Visitor Center. The view is partially obstructed by trees in the summertime; otherwise the view is good, if not great. It looks particularly pretty in the fall and has great water flow.
The best thing about this waterfall is that you can literally sit in your car and look at it. The downside is that it is far away, requiring a telephoto lens to photograph the waterfall and to actually be able to see it in the photo later and realize that there was a waterfall.
There is a trail to access Upper Meigs Falls, which I have not personally tried yet (on my list of things to do) at The Sinks. It is a 3 mile round trip, moderate/strenuous hike on the Meigs Creek Trail. This trail requires you to cross the creek several times.
We have a roadside waterfall day trip included on our website that includes Meigs Falls, The Sinks and several other waterfalls located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

I always drove right past this. Thanks for letting me know about it. Your web site
is great and I love the articles. Good job, cheers
