The Sinks

The Sinks 1The Sinks is a pretty waterfall that is very easy to access located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a small waterfall that includes the entire flow of Little River.

The Sinks always has good water flow year round, unlike some of the other waterfalls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

There is a large parking lot located right next to the waterfall. You can walk right up to a close-up overlook to the waterfall right from the parking lot. The walkway from the parking lot is paved and wheelchair accessible.

Warnings for the Falls

Swimming near The Sinks can be dangerous and is not recommended by the Park. Take extreme caution around the gorge walls, and do not attempt cliff diving, as water levels vary and you cannot tell how deep it is. While it is possible to reach the waterfall itself, doing so is strongly discouraged, as several deaths have resulted from people attempting this.

Other Nearby Waterfalls

There is a trail you access to take you to Upper Meigs Falls, which I have not personally tried yet (on my list of things to do) at The Sinks. It is a 3 mile round trip, moderate/strenuous hike on the Meigs Creek Trail. This trail requires you to cross the creek several times. So if you have extra time and are looking for more of a challenge, you may want to check out Upper Meigs Falls while you are there.

Other nearby waterfalls include: Cataract Falls located near the Sugarlands Visitor Center, Meigs Falls, Grotto Falls located off of the Roaring Fork Motor Trail, and Laurel Falls also located off of the motor trail (please note Laurel Falls is currently closed for renovation).

I like that it was connected to a larger trail that takes you to another waterfall, but you still get to see a waterfall early on. So this way there is something for everyone. I like that this waterfall is easy to get to. Even though it was smaller, it made a lasting impression. I would highly recommend it.
